Description

So, as I mentioned in my journal, I just finished playing a big Return of the Scarlet Empress Exalted campaign. It was 18 sessions long, immaculately planned from start to finished, and contained the most epic narrative I've ever had the pleasure of being a part of. Needless to say, I've got piles of pictures of all the characters, and was at a loss for where to begin.

My ST, the voice of reason, suggested I go chronologically, which seems like a good plan. So here I go.

My Player Character for this campaign, about 15 years before the story starts. Soon-to-be Mrs. Maria Varner, about to marry the Coral Plutocrat Jacob Varner, a handsome sailor with three young children who has recently lost his beloved first (and otherwise only) wife. Maria is demure, quiet, good with children and fiercely protective of her household, as is expected of a good Coral woman. It will be her slightly eccentric husband who convinces her to see herself as a person, and not just a daughter and a wife. Unfortunately, Jacob will not live to see her Exaltation, though she'll be nine months pregnant with his child when she becomes a Dawn Caste Solar.

Art-wise, this is why I rarely use pencil crayons- I'm terrible at blending and nothing ever comes out as smoothly as I want it to. I love nice pencil crayon stuff, but I just don't think it's my medium. Still, it was probably easier than colouring all those little pearls on the computer!

oh so ornate and lovely. Spectacular design and implementation. The effort you put into the pearls and frills really pays off and I don't think the blending is that bad. Looks like you have the basic skills, maybe just need more experimentation? I always find with traditional media that I start off sucking, but then read a few tutorials and see that there's some trick I completely missed. Aside from the gorgeous outfit, I think the pose and affect of the character matches well with the description and the blue works so well. Seems like a really cool character. gj XD
